As the third largest product industry in the world, furniture is the key to the growth of FSC demand. With this in mind, Roger Taylor, regional manager for the south, recently participated in the high point market (hpmkt) in North Carolina. With more than 2000 exhibitors and 75000 visitors, hpmkt is the world’s largest furniture trade show, where manufacturers, interior designers, architects and retailers gather to market, purchase and discuss the latest trends. To help open the door to these conversations, FSC USA participated in the SFC’s wood furniture scorecard group.
The discussions included the highest scores on the scorecard, including Cisco Pinedo, founder of Cisco brothers, and Jameson Dion, who owns city furniture. A key factor in their high scores is that each company offers products made of FSC certified materials. 100% of Cisco brothers’ wood comes from FSC certification or recycling / reuse, while Jameson of city furniture discusses a recently added sales line that uses FSC certified recycled wood for sales, which Jameson says is beyond their sales target.
